Thirsk housing scheme approved

9 Dec 11 Plans for 925 new homes to be built on a 72 hectare site on the outskirts of Thirsk have been approved by approved by the local council.

The plans for Sowerby Gateway also include a new school, local shops, a medical centre, a pub and restaurant, sports and leisure facilities, and community gardens. The development will be built in three phases over the next 15 years.

Highway improvement work is also required to upgrade slip roads on the A168.

Developer of the scheme is Castlevale

Sowerby Gateway was identified as part of the Hambleton District Council's local development framework, stipulating the development of southwest Thirsk for mixed use.
