Vinci to build €237m New Caledonia hospital

6 Oct 11 The New Caledonian government has awarded Vinci the ,237m (£204m) contract to build the Pacific country’s new hospital.

The Koutio multi-medical centre will consist of an 80,000m2 complex on a single 20ha site, bringing together, initially, the new hospital and a renal treatment centre). A radiation therapy centre will be added later, as well as the Institut Pasteur de Nouvelle-Calédonie and a post-operative and physical re-education centre. It will offer 450 rooms and 12 operating blocks. The design allows modular development of the structure to meet future health needs and demands.

Project management will be handled by an ICADE/SECAL consortium and design is by to Agence Michel Beauvais, Archipel, Coteba, ITCE and ECEP.

The work will be carried out by a consortium led by Vinci Construction in association with Vinci's energy business companies Arbe and Axima.

The first tranche must be delivered within 46 months and will start in January 2012.
