The contract for MTR Corporation is for the Hin Keng to Diamond Hill tunnels, which are part of the new Shatin to Central Link mass transit railway.
The contract comprises the construction of a 2,475m of drill and blast tunnel and 1,400m of twin tunnels to be excavated by means of a slurry TBM with a diameter of 7.4m. Work starts this week and will take 68 months.
The new Shatin to Central Link is split into 10 main contracts and involves construction of a 12km underground line, the four stations and the reconfiguration of two interconnecting stations.
