Wates holds supplier open day for Chesterfield market refurb

1 Nov 11 Wates Construction, main contractor for Chesterfield Borough Council’s planned renovation of Chesterfield Indoor Market Hall, is holding an open day for suppliers interested in working on the project.

The one-day drop-in session in partnership with the council will offer local companies the opportunity to find out how to register interest for the available fit-out work packages.

The open day will take place at Chesterfield Market Hall Assembly Rooms on Wednesday 9 November, from 7am until 1:30pm. Local suppliers and contractors are invited to attend to meet and discuss the potential work with representatives from Wates and the council.

The event follows Wates’ appointment to complete the refurbishment of the existing Grade II listed Market Hall building and the construction of the adjoining new-build extension.

Work on the project is set to begin in February 2012 and will see Wates, joined by Mace, who will be managing the project on behalf of the Council, upgrade the 154-year-old Market Hall.

The work will also include the refurbishment of the Assembly Rooms, the restoration of the listed exterior and the construction of brand new offices and public toilets, with community access improvements.
