Wates wants to meet Kirklees' specialists

13 Aug 12 Contractors in the Kirklees area of Yorkshire are being invited to apply to become part of the Excellent Homes for Life housing project, which is being delivered by Wates Living Space for Kirklees Council.

Wates is holding a series of informal Meet the Buyer events to offer local contractors the opportunity to offer their services and be part of the construction of 466 new council homes. A range of different trades is required, such as those specialising in metal work, tiling and scaffolding.

The event takes place at the Textile Centre of Excellence in Huddersfield on Tuesday 11 September 2012. Ahead of the event, interested parties need to complete and return an expression of interest form by Friday 17 August to be considered for a meeting. This can be accessed via http://watesmtb.eventbrite.co.uk

Wates Living Space started delivery of the Excellent Homes for Life project at the beginning of the year as part of a consortium, alongside Regenter and Pinnacle PSG, contracted by Kirklees Council to design, build, manage and maintain the properties for new and existing council tenants.

“From the outset it has been our aim to utilise our presence on this project to truly benefit local trades and the local workforce,” said Wates Living Space regional managing director Joanne Jamieson. “We are holding this event to therefore specifically target local businesses across Kirklees and integrate them into our supply chain. This will allow us to identify strengths in the market and deliver quality homes for Kirklees tenants.”
