St Modwen has been granted permission to redevelop Gregory’s Bank industrial estate in Worcester with 170 new homes alongside the Worcester & Birmingham Canal.

“St Modwen is pleased that our plans have been given the go-ahead. The development will significantly enhance the visual quality of the site and has people at its heart,” said senior planning surveyor Mike Timmins. “It will bring a semi-vacant urban brownfield site back into beneficial use in a manner that is in keeping with its setting.

“Our scheme has been carefully developed following local public consultation and provides additional family housing. The infrastructure has been designed to allow convenient pedestrian and cycle movement, allowing for more sustainable modes of transport and contributing to reduction in emissions.

“The proposed change of use from industrial estate to a residential scheme will also remove Heavy Goods Vehicles from this existing residential neighbourhood and so improve highway safety in the area.”
