Job Description
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced M&E Design Manager to join our clientsteam. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the mechanical and electrical design aspects of new build school projects. As an integral part of our clients project delivery team, you will ensure that designs are completed to the highest standards, meeting client requirements, industry regulations, and project deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the mechanical and electrical design process for new build school projects from conception to completion.
Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop innovative and cost-effective design solutions.
Review project specifications, drawings, and technical documentation to ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
Oversee the preparation and submission of design deliverables, including drawings, calculations, and specifications.
Provide technical guidance and support to project teams throughout the design and construction phases.
Conduct regular design reviews and coordination meetings to identify and resolve any issues or conflicts.
Liaise with clients, consultants, and contractors to address design-related queries and facilitate smooth project delivery.
Manage relationships with external design partners and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of design packages.
Monitor project budgets and schedules to ensure that design activities are completed within allocated resources.
Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to M&E design and incorporate them into project delivery processes.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).
Proven experience working as an M&E Design Manager for a tier one contractor.
Demonstrated experience managing the mechanical and electrical design aspects of new build school projects.
In-depth knowledge of relevant building codes, regulations, and standards (e.g., BS, CIBSE, Building Regulations).
Strong technical proficiency in design software tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, and MEP software.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
Strong leadership abilities with a track record of successfully managing design teams and delivering projects on time and within budget.
Problem-solving mindset with the ability to identify issues and implement practical solutions.
PMP or Prince2 certification would be advantageous.
