Electrical Curriculum Support Assistant

Job Description

Protocol are proudly working with a further education college in Derbyshire to recruit a new temporary member of staff in their Electrical Department.

We are looking for a Curriculum Support Assistant who is available for 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday). The ideal candidate will hold an Electrical qualification (level 3 minimum) and/or equivalent electrical industry experience (particularly installation) and will be supporting the lecturer, working with students to help them achieve their electrical qualifications.

Role responsibilities
* To provide support for the teaching of Electrical subjects, ensuring a safe and healthy
working environment is managed to a level appropriate to the curriculum area.
* To support individual learners in Electrical curriculum areas whilst undertaking practical
workshops
* To ensure the safe storage, preparation, transportation and disposal of equipment and materials.
* To prepare for class practical activities and afterwards clean equipment.
* To contribute to the design, development and maintenance of specialist resources and provide professional guidance, assistance and support to lecturers on the practical aspects of the curriculum.
* To develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of departmental practical activities and work.
effectively with staff when developing new practical activities.
* To provide guidance and support, including aspects of health and safety, to learners undertaking independent practical work.
* To develop, maintain and ensure the timely avail ability of resources.
* To monitor and maintain stock levels, update stock records and identify and plan for future requirements.
* To ensure equipment within the curriculum area 's remit is properly maintained and serviced.
* To ensure that quality standards are set, monitored and reviewed within the section.
* Respond to emergency call outs on a rota basis.

The person & qualifications

* A Level 3 Electrical qualification
* OR Relevant Industry experience
* A strong communicator with a passion for teaching and learning
* self-motivated and enthusiastic
