Software Development Technical Team Lead
Up to £100k + Bonus + Benefits
Based in London or Bournemouth - Flexible working 2 to 3 days office based.
We have a leadership position within our development team. This is a key role responsible for leading a team of highly skilled engineers and requires an influential and engaging manager with a strong track record in mentoring and developing high performing technical teams.

Deko is a retail finance platform and credit brokerage providing services to UK merchants and lenders, enabling them to offer instant financing as a payment option. At the heart of our business is a world-class SaaS application.
The role
- Leading and developing a team, ensuring that all members of a team have a voice in planning a solution.
- Contributing to the technical solution, from design through to code level.
- Working closely with product owners to produce accurate delivery estimates and managing the transition from analysis through to design and delivery.
- Providing regular and effective progress updates and reports to the product team to ensure the management of delivery risks or issues.
- Collaborating with the engineering manager to ensure that all work meets the quality standards.
- Supporting the engineering manager in business initiative resource scheduling and department capacity planning.
- Making key decisions to ensure the successful implementation of all initiatives.
About you
As well as being technically capable and an expert in current technologies you'll have proven experience in leading and managing the delivery of system/software development projects. You must be able to demonstrate through previous projects that you have the ability to create epic level plans, estimates and roadmaps, in conjunction with development teams. Your experience and expertise will be in leading projects, solutions architecture and planning, encouraging input from all team members, while following overall target architecture.
To be successful you will need to be comfortable being hands on, assisting or filling in as a Scrum Master, using your experience in a variety of software development approaches and methodologies in both architecture and implementation-level software design.
Technically you will need expertise in Java 15, Typescript and React as well as a thorough understanding of microservice architecture, message queues, event-driven architecture, and anti-corruption layers. We are also interested in applicants who have worked with AWS (IAM & Security, Lambdas, serverless.com, SNS/SQS, API Gateway, Application Load Balancers, RDBMS (mysql, postgres), NoSQL Document DBs (MongoDB, DocumentDB), Terraform, Docker, Linux, Logging and monitoring and Kubernetes.
