Timber Frame Designer

Job Description

Timber Frame Designer
South East
c£29,000 + commission package
Full time, permanent

Start to finish with projects | Reward for sales activities | Rural location | Supportive team culture

Designer / Project Manager required by established and well respected specialist Subcontractor to work on bespoke projects (mainly residential) for a quality fast-track building system. This work is poles apart from the "cubicle farm" approach adopted by many of their competitors, where you will be involved at all stages of the project, from the very early sales/estimating phase, through design (using specialist design software incorporating Revit, checking progress during manufacturing and construction. If you prefer to have an element of control in your work, this is the ideal position for you.

In addition to your design experience from a system-build environment (eg timber frame, SIPS, light gauge steel, light steel frame, modular buildings etc) you will also have a good understanding of the issues involved in working in the offsite construction industry. This will include the relationships you have with your colleagues not only on site but also within the manufacturing process. You will need to be able to take a commercial view on your projects, and understand the needs of your clients, who may be requiring considerable support from someone with your knowledge and experience.

The office is located in a beautiful rural location, full of natural light and where interaction with your colleagues is encouraged. The open plan office ensures that you are always aware of your colleagues' projects which means you can thrive in a strong team environment. You will be working hard, but you will be supported rather than micro-managed. Projects will be varied, interesting and every one will be different - no "off the shelf" designs here. Much of their work is repeat business, as they have earned a reputation for doing great work.

To recognise your input into the sales process, there is a commission scheme in place - you will have an excellent opportunity to reap the rewards of your efforts.

If the above isn't sufficient to encourage you to apply now, please call Sue Eustace on 0117 959 2008 for further information - your call will be dealt with in the strictest confidence.

Key skills: Designer, Design Technician, offsite construction, MMC, timber frame, SIPS, modular, roof truss, i-beam, posi-joist, light gauge steel, light steel frame
