Quantity Surveyor job in Tamworth, Staffordshire for one of the UK's largest independently owned housebuilders. Offering a salary range of £50,000 - £65,000 + Car Allowance £8.2k or Company Car + 15% Bonus + 25 days holiday + Medical.
Our client was established for 50 years, with 10 offices across the Midlands, East Anglia, South West and North West. They are a family-run regional developer that strives to deliver quality housing that is sympathetic to the individual area and community. They are number 1 for NHBC customer satisfaction at 8 and 9-week survey stages and currently delivering 4000 units per year across all regions with their Midlands region currently delivering 500 - 600 units per annum.
Role & Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of the sub-contract / supplier enquiry lists for approval
- Tender preparation, management and analysis
- Prepare detailed breakdowns of build costs including infrastructure costings
- Ensure new sub-contractors are on the database and that the certification is up to date
- Carry out drawing take-offs and produce labour-only rates in liaison with the Senior Surveyor, Commercial Manager and Construction Department
- Ensure sub-contractor weekly and monthly applications for payment are analysed, checked and interim payments are prepared for approval
- Issue variation instructions and contra charges
- Price non-standard client extras as required and liaising with the Commercial Manager and Construction Department to ensure costings are correct
- Update Cost of Sales in Viability Manager for client extras, after re-budgets and valuations
- Carrying out monthly progress checklists for all sites and inputting on to the valuation system including MOS.
- Carrying out monthly valuation including production of Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) and Cost to Complete Sheet (CTC) including attending Valuation Meetings
- Liaise with the Housing Association and attend site meetings where necessary.
Required Skills & Experience
- Ideally Degree in Quantity Surveying or similar
- Experience as a Quantity Surveyor with a housebuilder
- Pre-contact to final accounts
- UK Driving Licence.
