Structural Engineer

Job Description

Graduate Structural Engineer - steel structures
Gloucestershire
£20-28,000 (TBC)
Full time, permanent

Specialist steel structures | Small team, support for Chartered Engineer status | Excellent benefits package

:: Are you tired of being a small cog in a large consulting/contracting wheel?
:: Do you want to be able to make your mark and stay focussed on your route to becoming a Chartered Engineer?

We are working with a well-established company who are leaders in their field, now seeking a Graduate Structural Engineer. They actively encourage a team environment, where lines of demarcation are minimal and you will be close and visible to senior management. You will be part of this Fabricator's own in-house Design Team, where you will be able to influence and see the results of your designs. There is a strong emphasis on innovation and continuous improvement, so you will need to be able to bring your attention to detail and ability for lateral thinking. Although you will be working primarily on re-analysis of existing steel structures, there may be the option to work on other projects and products.

About you:

  • You are degree qualified in Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering
  • You have some post-graduation experience, and if this is within structural steel design this would be of particular interest. If not, you will be able to demonstrate a good understanding of structural principles
  • You have a strong practical bias, and work in a methodical and ordered manner
  • You have aspirations to become a Chartered Engineer (there is support within the business to help you through this)
  • You are able to have some flexibility regarding your working hours and locations; whilst you will be based primarily in Gloucestershire, you are likely to be required to attend sites

Are you able to prove experience in any of the following?

  • Structural steel design, with a working knowledge of EN 1993 including the design of steel members and connections
  • Structural steel manufacture or installation
  • Fatigue design to BS 5400-10 and EN 1993-1-9
  • Projects for Network Rail, Highways Agency/Highways England and/or highway or rail structure design
  • Steel tower design to BS 8100
  • Knowledge of EN 1997-1 and its Design Approaches

:: Please ensure you are able to confirm experience in at least one of the above ::

This great company has a competitive benefits package including 25 days' holiday, pension, profit-related bonus and a reward for long service. You will also have support to progress to Chartered Engineer status.

Interested? Apply today or if you would like to find out more, please call Sue on 0117 959 2008. Your call will be treated with the strictest confidentiality.
