APPLY Job Description

Senior Electrical Engineer - Building Services
Location: London / Hybrid
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Employment: Permanent

The Opportunity
An established independent engineering consultancy is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join its growing building-services team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys technically challenging projects, working closely with clients and design teams, and taking genuine ownership of projects from early concept through to delivery.

You'll become part of a multidisciplinary environment where electrical, mechanical and sustainability specialists work closely together to develop practical, efficient and future-focused building solutions.

The Role
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you'll be involved in the technical delivery and management of a variety of projects across sectors including commercial, residential, education, leisure, hospitality and mixed-use developments.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading electrical design packages from concept through detailed design and construction.
  • Producing and reviewing calculations, specifications, drawings and technical reports.
  • Designing LV distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, power and associated electrical systems.
  • Working collaboratively with architects, contractors, developers and other engineering disciplines.
  • Attending design and client meetings and acting as a trusted technical point of contact.
  • Reviewing designs and providing technical guidance to more junior engineers.
  • Helping to manage project programmes, budgets and deliverables.
  • Supporting the development of junior and intermediate members of the electrical team.
  • Contributing to sustainable and energy-efficient design solutions.
  • Using modern design and coordination tools, including CAD/BIM environments.

About You
We're looking for a confident electrical engineer with strong building-services consultancy experience.

You're likely to have:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
  • Significant experience within an MEP/building-services consultancy.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical building-services design.
  • Experience delivering projects through multiple design stages.
  • The confidence to communicate with clients and other members of the design team.
  • Experience mentoring or supporting less experienced engineers.
  • Good commercial awareness and an understanding of project constraints.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A proactive, practical approach to solving engineering problems.

Professional registration or working towards IEng/CEng would be advantageous.

What's on Offer
This is more than an opportunity to move into another engineering role. You'll join a well-established consultancy where experienced engineers have the opportunity to take ownership, develop their technical expertise and play an important part in the continued growth of the electrical team.

You can expect:

  • Varied projects across multiple sectors.
  • A collaborative multidisciplinary working environment.
  • Direct exposure to clients and senior stakeholders.
  • Genuine opportunities for career progression.
  • Support from experienced technical and project leaders.
  • A strong focus on professional development.
  • Flexible/hybrid working arrangements.
  • The opportunity to contribute to more sustainable, energy-conscious building design.
