Bidders sought for Kincardine viaduct

10 Jan 22 Transport Scotland has opened the bidding process for a £16m contract to replace the southern piled viaduct of the A985 Kincardine Bridge.

It is seeking to appoint a main contractor to demolish the existing viaduct and build a new five-span structure.

The project will also require the design, provision and maintenance of a two-directional temporary structure prior to the viaduct being demolished.

The main contractor will be procured through a competitive tender. Transport Scotland said that the project complexity’s means that it cannot be divided into lots.

It is the intention that the project will operate a mandatory project bank account (PBA), a ring fenced account for payment of the contractor and its supply chain. The account will be opened by Scottish ministers with the Royal Bank of Scotland under the Scottish government’s Banking Services Framework.

These works are due to commence in winter 2022, for a period of approximately 24 months.
