Lovell secures top South Yorkshire construction award

3 Nov 10 Affordable housing developer and regeneration specialist Lovell has been rewarded for its meticulous approach to health and safety at the annual Celebrating Construction in South Yorkshire Awards.

The company, which has its regional office at City West Office Park in Gelderd Road, Leeds, took the top prize in the Health and Safety categoryat the event which is organised by the Chartered Institute of Building. Now in its third year, the Celebrating Construction in South Yorkshire Awards recognises the professionalism, excellence and innovation of construction firms, developers and supply chain members working in the region.

Lovell received the award for the outstanding levels of health and safety it has maintained while building a number of new housing developments in South Yorkshire. Regional health and safety advisor Matt Jarvis accepted the award on the company’s behalf at a specially-arranged ceremony held at Sheffield City Hall which was attended by almost 400 guests.

“As a company, achieving the highest possible standards of health and safety is one of our top priorities,” says Lovell regional director Noel Adams. “This award is a great testament to the hard work and dedication of our site teams and I’d like to thank them for their efforts.”

Key projects for Lovell in South Yorkshire include a£3.8 million affordable homes scheme at the Scowerdons Estate, Sheffield, for Home Group and Sheffield City Council.  The company is also building a £3.5 million affordable housing development at Wath-upon-Dearne, near Rotherham, for Guinness Northern Counties and Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council.
