Planning permission was contingent on £1 billion of Section 106 community investment in improving the A406, public transport links (including a new station) and new parks and school buildings.
The development includes 7,500 new homes, new offices and the expansion of the Brent Cross shopping centre. It was initially approved by the council in November 2009, subject to agreement over the Section 106, or planning gain. These negotiations have taken nearly a year to complete.
The developer is Brent Cross Cricklewood Partners, who are Brookfield Europe (formerly Multplex), Hammerson plc and Standard Life Investments.
