Mr Morris has been acting regional secretary since January 2012 and was previously a regional organiser in Yorkshire since 2001.
Before working for Ucatt, he was a bricklayer working for several companies throughout the region.
Mr Morris said: “I am delighted to be the new regional secretary for Yorkshire. For too long construction employers have believed they can ride roughshod over basic employment practices. This must change construction workers must be treated with the decency they deserve.”
Mr Morris takes over in Yorkshire from Steve Murphy, who became general secretayr of the union in January 2012.
