This project is the first in the £78m Barking, Dagenham and Newham batch of the EFA’s priority schools building programme (PSBP) for which Wates was selected in January 2015.

Wates will build a 10,703 m2 four-storey secondary school with capacity for 1,525 pupils. The new school has been designed by CPMG using Wates’ standardised Adapt Schools Solutions model.

Completion is scheduled for December 2016, when the old school building will be demolished and replaced with external landscaping.

Wates Construction regional managing director Ian Vickers said: “The past few months have been spent in close consultation with the EFA to develop the designs and establish the most cost-efficient means of delivering a new building for Little Ilford that ultimately has the school’s curriculum needs at its heart.”

Wates' Barking, Dagenham and Newham PSBP batch also includes Eastbrook School in Dagenham and Eastbury School in Barking.
