Wates extends Lowestoft school

23 Jul 13 Wates Construction starts work this week on a £4m project to expand Pakefield High School in Lowestoft for Suffolk County Council.

Wates will build a 2,160m2 two-storey extension, which will include flexible classroom spaces as well as new administration offices and staff rooms. There will also be a central ‘street’ that will run through the school.

School capacity will expand from its current 536 places to 900.

The project has been designed by Concertus, which used to be Suffolk County Council’s corporate property services division.

Completion is scheduled for summer 2014, following a build programme of 49 weeks.

The project was procured via the Suffolk County Council property construction framework, which was established in June 2011.
