The appointment of Richard Scarrott comes as the business prepares to grow its presence in sectors including commercial, industrial and manufacturing, and education.

Scarrott, who has been with Wates Construction as operations director since July 2013, will now oversee the current portfolio for the region. Current projects include the development of MTC’s Ansty Park in Coventry and Wates’ place on Scape’s East Midlands Property Alliance frameworks.

Scarrott said: “It has been an exceptional year for Wates in the Midlands, which has seen us strengthen our position in our core markets whilst growing into the emerging commercial and industrial sectors as the economic recovery gathers pace.”

Phil Harrison, managing director, Wates Construction Midlands & North, added: “Having now got under the skin of the business as operations director, Richard has an excellent vantage point from which he can lead our team to build on our successes and develop and secure our long-term growth.”
