Abba has bought one the first 100C-1 machines in the UK and says it is proving to be a versatile piece of kit with bags of potential.
The JCB 100C-1 model is based on the frame of the 8.6-tonne 86C-1 midi, with H-shape undercarriage, but with a more powerful Kohler engine, a larger dig end and beefier hydraulics.
Abba’s plant hire manager, Nick Howe, says: “We see the 10-tonne JCB midi excavator as a machine with great potential. It is a unique size of machine with good power – while the lower operating weight means less damage to the ground surface.

“The machine is proving versatile – able to load our 8 wheel tippers – as well as traditional midi tasks on site. It brings the proven JCB quality to a new weight class that is easy to transport, comfortable for operators but brings power to confined sites.”
Abba Plant Hire is part of the JMH Group, which also includes the civil engineering contractor John Martin-Hoyes Ltd as well as JMH Directional Drilling Ltd, APH Cranes and APH Access.
