Ready for a role that gives you the variety, autonomy and client exposure to really make your mark?
We're working with a growing construction consultancy that is looking to appoint an experienced Chartered Building Surveyor (MRICS) to join its expanding Manchester team.
With a strong pipeline of work across Manchester and the wider Northwest, this is a great opportunity for a Chartered Surveyor who wants more than just routine instructions. You'll be involved across a diverse mix of professional and project-based work, working directly with clients and taking ownership of projects from initial instruction through to completion.
The Role
You'll be joining a collaborative team where Chartered Surveyors are trusted to take responsibility for their own workload while also contributing to the wider growth of the business.
Your work will span a mixture of student accommodation, residential and mixed-use properties, alongside a variety of project and professional surveying instructions.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering a broad range of Building Surveying services across Manchester and the Northwest.
- Undertaking condition surveys, defect diagnosis and technical due diligence.
- Providing dilapidations advice and preparing detailed reports and schedules.
- Preparing specifications, scopes of work and tender documentation.
- Acting as Contract Administrator on projects under JCT and NEC contracts.
- Managing refurbishment, remedial and maintenance projects from inception through to completion.
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Providing professional advice and helping clients develop appropriate project strategies.
- Supporting framework commissions and repeat client programmes.
- Taking an active role in developing junior members of the team.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across the wider business and supporting projects nationally when required.
The experience they're looking for:
We're looking for an established Chartered Building Surveyor (MRICS) who is confident managing their own workload and comfortable dealing directly with clients.
You'll ideally have:
- An RICS-accredited degree in Building Surveying.
- MRICS / Chartered Building Surveyor status.
- Strong experience across both professional and project Building Surveying.
- Experience undertaking surveys, defect analysis, TDD and/or dilapidations.
- Experience with contract administration, ideally across JCT and NEC.
- Strong technical report-writing and specification skills.
- Experience managing projects through to completion.
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
- The ability to work autonomously while contributing positively to a collaborative team.
- A commercial mindset and an interest in developing client relationships and winning repeat business.
- AutoCAD and NBS experience; Revit/BIM knowledge would be advantageous but isn't essential.
Why this opportunity?
This is a chance to join a consultancy where you can take ownership of your work without being left to figure everything out alone.
You'll have the opportunity to:
- Work on a genuinely varied portfolio of projects across Manchester and the Northwest.
- Combine professional surveying with project delivery.
- Work with established clients across a range of sectors.
- Take ownership of projects and client relationships.
- Get involved in framework and repeat-business opportunities.
- Mentor and support junior colleagues.
- Influence the continued growth of the Manchester team.
- Develop your commercial and business development skills.
- Work within a supportive and ambitious consultancy where your experience is valued.
If you're a Chartered Building Surveyor looking for greater autonomy, varied work and the opportunity to play a key role within a growing Manchester team, we'd love to hear from you.
