The Opportunity We are looking for a motivated Trainee Construction Site Engineering Technician to join a construction team and develop the skills and knowledge required to work within civil and construction engineering.

This is a Level 4 apprenticeship leading to an HNC in Construction and the Built Environment. The programme is expected to take approximately 2 to 2.5 years to complete, with one day per week spent at college as part of the 40-hour working week.

You will gain hands-on experience on construction sites while supporting Civil and Project Engineers with engineering works.

Please note: The recruitment process includes a mandatory one-week unpaid work experience placement on site prior to any job offer.

• Applicants must be residents of Wandsworth or Lambeth borough.
• £14.80 per hour.
• Full-time apprenticeship, 40 hours per week.
• One day per week will be spent at college.
• The apprenticeship leads to an HNC in Construction and the Built Environment.
• The programme is expected to take approximately 2 to 2.5 years.
• Estimated start date: ASAP.
• A mandatory one-week unpaid work experience placement is required before a job offer.
• Full driving licence is preferred, with willingness and ability to travel.
• Candidates must have the right to work permanently and legally in the UK.

Key Responsibilities

• Support dimensional control on construction projects.
• Assist design teams with civil engineering solutions.
• Assist with setting out and levelling using Total Stations, Auto Levels and other equipment.
• Supervise specialist contractors where required.
• Contribute to health and safety activities on construction projects.
• Record, control and report project progress during site and client visits.
• Contribute to reducing the environmental impact of construction projects.
• Support quality control of construction works.
• Order and control materials including reinforcement and concrete.
• Contribute to Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
• Participate in morning briefings and site inductions.
• Contribute to document control.
• Support Civil and Project Engineers with organising and managing engineering works on construction sites.

Essential Requirements

• Resident of Wandsworth or Lambeth borough.
• Ideally three A-Levels at Grade A or B, or equivalent.
• GCSE Maths at Grade B / 5 or 6, plus GCSE English and a Science subject, or equivalent.
• Previous experience working in the construction industry or on a construction site.
• CSCS card.
• Right to work permanently and legally in the UK.
• Interest in construction and the built environment.
• Interest in technology and construction materials.
• Good teamwork and communication skills.
• Ability and willingness to work with people from a wide range of backgrounds and experience.
• Motivated and committed to combining full-time employment with further education.
• Willingness and ability to travel.

Desirable

• Full UK driving licence.
• Previous experience supporting construction, civil engineering or site engineering activities.

Training & Development

• Level 4 apprenticeship.
• HNC in Construction and the Built Environment.
• Practical, hands-on construction site experience.
• One day per week dedicated to college study.
• Potential progression towards further study, including a BSc (Hons) Degree in Civil Engineering.
