Job Description

Role of the Derby Quantity Surveyor:

As a Quantity Surveyor, with a focus on refurbishment, you'll play a pivotal role in our client's projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality. Your expertise will be instrumental in managing the financial aspects of decorating projects, ensuring their success from inception to completion. All projects are commercial and industrial and all contracts are D&B.

Key Responsibilities of the Derby Quantity Surveyor:

  • Manage the financial aspects of refurbishment projects, including budgeting, cost control, and forecasting.
  • Procure materials and services required for decorating works, ensuring value for money and adherence to project specifications.
  • Collaborate closely with the existing supply chain to optimise efficiency and minimise costs.
  • Conduct thorough cost analysis and risk assessments to inform decision-making processes.
  • Prepare and negotiate contracts with subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring favourable terms and conditions.
  • Monitor project progress and variations, identifying and addressing any potential issues promptly.
  • Liaise with clients, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met and expectations are exceeded.
  • Utilise your expertise in estimating and/or project management to contribute to overall project success.

Requirements of the Derby Quantity Surveyor:

  • Previous experience in a similar role within the construction industry.
  • Familiarity with design and build contract types.
  • Strong quantitative and analytic skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools.
  • Estimating and/or project management experience is advantageous.

Location of the Quantity Surveyor Role:

This role is based in Derby.
