Senior Geotechnical Engineer

Job Description

Our client, a well-established environmental consultancy, are currently seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer with 10-15 years consultancy experience in the UK, to join their rapidly growing team on a permanent basis. They provide advice to the land, property, construction, waste, transport and oil and gas industries across the UK and overseas.

The role will be office based in Derby, East Midlands but as a company, their projects and clients are located across the UK. Ideally, the candidate would be located in the Derby/Nottingham/ Loughborough/Burton area or would consider relocating.

The successful candidate will be an established and qualified engineer with experience, understanding and knowledge of working on-site investigations, earthworks, ground treatment, foundation design (residential/commercial developments), mining risks and slope stability.

A working understanding of SHW Series 600 Earthworks, NHBC Standards, BS 5930/1377/6031, CIRIA 573, CL:AIRE DOWCOP is a must. You should be able to project manage the full cycle of multiple projects as part of geo-environmental teams and be confident in site supervision of site investigation and earthworks operations.

You will be a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual, producing well written factual, interpretative, and outline design reports. You will attend site and design meetings as required, write detailed reports and assist with bid proposals. You must be a team player and happy to liaise with a wide range of valued clients.

Position Requirements:

  • A degree or other recognised qualification in engineering
  • At least 10-15 years’ consultancy experience as an engineer
  • Experience in earthworks, site investigation, slope stability and mining risks
  • Professional, proactive and driven individual
  • An understanding of current Health & Safety legislation.
  • An understanding of legislation and regulation adherence, in relation to any design reviews being undertaken.
