The Opportunity We are supporting an established resource recovery and waste management organisation looking for a Fixed Plant Fitter to help maintain the fixed plant and machinery within a busy waste management facility.

You will carry out planned and reactive maintenance, diagnose faults and complete repairs to help keep essential equipment operating safely, reliably and efficiently.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone with experience in plant maintenance, mechanical maintenance, engineering or a similar environment.

• The role is based within a busy waste management facility
• Experience with fixed plant, conveyors, shredders or industrial equipment would be beneficial
• Relevant plant maintenance or mechanical engineering qualifications would be advantageous
• Strong fault-finding and practical problem-solving skills are required

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on fixed plant machinery and equipment.
• Inspect, service and repair conveyors, shredders and associated plant systems.
• Diagnose faults and complete repairs, replacements and adjustments to minimise downtime.
• Support preventative maintenance activities to improve plant reliability.
• Complete maintenance work safely and in line with site procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, parts used and maintenance activities.
• Work closely with maintenance, engineering and operations teams to resolve equipment issues.
• Identify opportunities to improve plant performance, safety and efficiency.
• Support a clean, safe and compliant working environment.

Essential Requirements

• Experience in plant maintenance, mechanical maintenance, engineering or a similar hands-on role.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• A practical, hands-on approach to engineering and maintenance.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Good communication skills.
• Strong commitment to health, safety and environmental standards.

Desirable

• Experience working with fixed plant machinery.
• Experience with conveyors, shredders or other industrial equipment.
• Relevant qualification in plant maintenance, mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
• Previous experience within waste management, recycling or a similar operational environment.
