Site Engineer

We're looking for a Senior Site Engineer to support a major, highly regulated nuclear‑licensed infrastructure programme. This is a long‑term, technically complex environment with demanding quality, assurance, and compliance expectations. It suits someone who is confident taking ownership of engineering control, leading junior engineers, and maintaining absolute accuracy across heavy civils works.

You'll be involved in large‑scale earthworks, deep excavations, reinforced concrete structures, marine‑adjacent works, utilities, and significant temporary works. The role requires a strong grasp of nuclear‑grade documentation, rigorous record‑keeping, and the ability to work within a controlled framework where buildability, sequencing, and technical assurance are central to delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering control across allocated civils packages, ensuring precise setting‑out and quality compliance
• Review drawings, specifications, and technical requirements, identifying clashes and buildability issues early
• Manage ITPs, QA records, permits, and assurance documentation to nuclear‑grade standards
• Coordinate with designers, temporary works, and construction teams to maintain technical accuracy
• Mentor and support junior engineers, ensuring consistent standards across the team
• Drive problem‑solving, sequencing, and technical solutions on complex civils works
• Support progress reporting, interface management, and stakeholder communication

Ideal background

• Civil engineering degree or equivalent
• Strong experience as a Site Engineer or Senior Site Engineer on major civils or infrastructure schemes
• Excellent understanding of temporary works, QA, and engineering control
• Comfortable working within highly regulated environments with strict assurance processes
• Able to challenge design, propose practical solutions, and maintain high technical standards
• Confident leading engineering teams and managing subcontractor coordination
