City Building has been awarded a £40m structural repair and refurbishment deal from Glasgow Housing Association.
The contract is for the structural repair of roofs, walls, floors and foundations of over 900 houses built from reinforced concrete,known as "the Wingets", in the Carntyne District of Glasgow.
The contract will also include new kitchens, bathrooms and rewiring. In addition the contract will provide for (on an as required basis): new windows; secure by design doors; central heating systems; internal refurbishment of pass doors, facings, skirtings, plasterwork and decoration; external works; and environmental improvements.
City Building beat off competition from seven other bidders.
The contractor, which turns over £150m a year, was only formed in 2006, being created from the former building services department of the city council. It employs 2,000 people.
