Construction firms are being invited to bid for a £450m PFI deal to replace the existing Royal Liverpool University Hospital.
The successful contractor would partner Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust to design, build finance and operate a new facility on a cleared development area on the existing hospital site.
The PFI concession will run for 30 years.
The deadline for submission of pre-qualification questionnaires is 2 June.
Three firms will then be asked to enter competitive dialogue on 9 July.
Construction work is scheduled to start in 2012, with completion in 2016.
