Shepherd Construction has been awarded a £16.5m contract to build a new research facility for the University of Liverpool.
The 5,950 sq m Apex facility will be built on land adjacent to the University’s Bioscience Building.
The new building has been designed to achieve a BREEAM ‘very good’ rating, with recycled materials and sustainable timber used, and a heat recovery system installed.
The project is scheduled to be finished in October 2011.
Once complete, it will accommodate 600 researchers who will support the University’s health research into infectious diseases, cancer and digestive diseases.
