His appointment follows a temporary position managing the delivery of the Aarsleff’s work on the Mersey Gateway project.

Managing Director Chris Primett said: “With Aarsleff securing many more major project wins and large-scale infrastructure projects, and with HS2 on the horizon, Stephen’s appointment strengthens our business proposition enormously. His experience and track-record of successfully delivering major projects will not only be an asset to Aarsleff but our clients’ will be confident that they are in very safe hands.”

Stephen Black said: “It’s an exciting time for Aarsleff and it’s great to be a part of it.”

Elsewhere (pictured above), Aarsleff has now completed the foundation works for the construction of retail group Next’s new distribution centre in Doncaster. Over 17 weeks, Aarsleff installed more than 9,500 driven precast concrete piles and steel tubes, with piles varying between two and 22 metres in length.
