Berkeley Group subsidiary St James has secured a resolution to grant planning permission from the council for a new development with up to 1,465 homes in White City.
Berkeley estimates that the development will bring £615m of investment and create 620 jobs in construction.
The 10-acre (4.2 hectare) site is currently occupied by a Marks & Spencer warehouse. St James plans to transform the whole area into a residential neighbourhood set in a four acre public park, White City Green.
The Marks & Spencer Warehouse is set to be vacated in July 2016 and construction is planned to start at the earliest opportunity. The development will also include commercial, office, community and leisure space. The scheme will be delivered in a number of phases over a 15 year period.
Patel Taylor was appointed as the architect, masterplanner and landscape architect to develop proposals for the site following a design competition. A new bridge and pedestrian deck across London Underground’s Central Line will provide direct access to Westfield London to the south.
