Astaldi takes over on stalled Italian highway upgrade

29 Jul 15 Astaldi has finalised an agreement to carry out the remaining €500m (£355m) of work to upgrade an Italian road network after the original contracting team went into administration.

The agreement has been reached following a complex series of corporate transactions with the special commissioner of Impresa, SAF and DIRPA, which are all under extraordinary administration.

The work is for a direct route between Perugia and Ancona direct route and the Pedemontana delle Marche national road, which together form ‘Maxi-Lot 2’ of the Quadrilatero Marche-Umbria network.

The overall value of the works amounts to €745m, of which approximately €500m is still be carried out.
