The U-centRaal joint venture is tasked with increasing the reliability of the railway, with fewer malfunctions and space for more trains. U-centRaal will complete this project in 2016.
The distance between signals will be reduced in order that trains can operate more closely to each other, reducing headways.
Activities under the contract include laying of approximately 30km of track, more than 1,200km of cable and the renewing of the overhead cables. Platforms will also be widened.
