Cladding contractor in administration

30 Apr 12 Cheshire-based cladding contractor Colourclad has gone into administration, with 20 jobs lost.

The firm specialised in industrial cladding, and recent projects included Liverpool FC's North Stand (pictured).

The Warrington outfit fell victim to fierce competition in the construction sector, according to Charles MacMillan, a partner and head of corporate recovery at Manchester accountants Beever and Struthers, which has been appointed administrator.

He added the business suffered amid the general construction sector's downturn from a squeeze on its margins.

It was also forced to write off about £350,000 when Wrexham-based civil engineering and maintenance contractor Barnhill Construction went bust.

MacMilland said he was seeking a buyer for Colourclad but that all staff had been made redundant as there was no profitable work in progress.
