Expressions of interest have been called for building the new HQ in Middlesbrough, which has an estimated value in the range of £8m to £20m. It will provide 5,000m2 of accommodation.

Plans for the new building were first unveiled back in 2010. At that time, it was hoped the new building could be open by now. The current Cleveland police HQ on Ladgate Lane is in an old British Steel laboratory building.

The new HQ will be built on a site at Hemlington Grange where new housing is also being developed. The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) for Cleveland, client for the project, is hoping to see construction start in October and complete by the end of 2015.
