Contractors plan skills card blitz

1 Feb 17 Construction workers across the UK should be prepared to show their skills card on Wednesday 8th February 2017 when an industry-wide card audit is planned.

Member companies of Build UK and the Civil Engineering Contractors Association have been instructed to check all cards on that day, to ensure that they are up to date and of the smart card variety.

The Build UK and CECA smart card audit is seeking to promote the value of the smart technology used by the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) and affiliated schemes to drive increased industry uptake and highlight any expired or fraudulent cards.

Build UK chief executive Suzannah Nichol said: “The smart card audit is a great chance for us to understand what steps we need to take to fully integrate smart technology into the industry’s daily practices. By emphasising the benefits of smart cards and driving increased industry uptake, Build UK and its members can continue to lead positive change in the industry.”
