Mr Cooper, aged 32, first came on the tabloid radar in the summer of 2009 when he began stepping out with Miss Allen, aged 25. The Sun newspaper, generally reliable enough on all matters celebrity, described him at the time as “an ordinary punter” with no showbiz connections, and a painter and decorator who “employs a team of Polish lads to help him decorate houses in north London".
Now that he is engaged to Miss Allen (after reportedly popping the question on a Far Eastern beach on Christmas Day), he has been promoted to “building firm boss”.
According to the Daily Mail, Mr Cooper makes his living as a builder.
The Guardian, Independent and Hello magazine all agree that he is both a builder and a decorator.
Over at the Daily Telegraph, meanwhile, he runs a decorating firm.
