Crossrail advertises £35m Custom House station contract

16 Nov 11 Crossrail has formally advertised the construction contract for the £35m Custom House station in London's Docklands.

The contract includes completion of employer's design and demolition of existing structures before work on the station itself.

The main construction elements are:

  • installation of piling and foundations
  • installation of precast columns, beams and slabs, and steel columns and beams to the main station structure
  • construction of the concrete entrance structure, as a combination of in situ and precast units, with steel columns and beams above
  • construction of the last section of the new ExCel exhibition centre connection, as a steel column and beam structure, installation of precast, post-tensioned concrete beams to form the footbridge connection across Victoria Dock Road
  • installation of the roof structure over the erected station structure
  • installation of precast columns, beams and slabs, and steel columns and beams to the main station structure
  • installation and fit of the lifts to the main station structure
  • fit out of the plant rooms and station accommodation.

The time limit for receipt of requests to participate is 19 December.
