Dandara has acquired the historic Triple Kirks site from Stewart Milne Group and intends to start construction work before the end of the year.

The original church and spire, a local landmark, were completed in 1843, and are regarded as one of city architect Archibald Simpson's finest works. The church has been derelict since the 1970s. Development plans were approved by Aberdeen City Council in August 2011.

Gavin Wyley, managing director of Dandara in Aberdeen, said: "We plan to begin development very soon and are in a position to move forward quickly thanks to planning permission having already been granted by Aberdeen City Council.”

To be called The Point, the development will retain the spire as the focus and provide 72,600sq ft of commercial office space over seven storeys.

Aberdeen council leader Barney Crockett said: "Everyone in Aberdeen will be delighted to hear that something is happening at Triple Kirks after so many years of waiting.”
