New materials handling capacity was required at the company’s headquarters and main processing plant in Arbor Low, Derbyshire. This 15-acre facility focuses on a quick turnaround of semi-processed aggregates to finished product.

The Manitou forklifts are mainly handling palletised loads of bagged aggregates and bulk bags weighing 1,250kg or 850kg and either loading lorries or handling the end product from the bagging plants into storage. Most are fitted with 3M70 Duplex ‘Freelift’ Masts for safe operation inside lower headroom buildings.

The new machines, seven of which are two-wheel drive models and one an MH25 4x4 version, were supplied by local dealer BTE Plant Sales.

Derbyshire Aggregates director Adrian Fewings said: “Our site conditions can be difficult so we need the right equipment for the job. The MSIs have good ground clearance and are easy to operate.”
