With careful consideration to the specification of every element used in the restoration, only products that met the high standards of the client were specified by Reardon Smith Architects. To provide reliable and efficient closing of doors throughout the prestigious premises, door closers from DORMA, the global market leader of door controls, automatics, glass and movable walls, were chosen.
At a cost of £220 million, the restoration of the world-famous hotel reflects the owners lavish tastes and desire to create a building of the utmost distinction. Main contractor Chorus oversaw the project, which included alterations to 268 guest rooms and suites, the installation of a 16 room royal suite, full front and back of house restoration, extensive kitchen works and complete structural works.
Architectural hardware distributor, Franchi Plc, supplied some 400 DORMA TS 83 closers to the doors in the front of house corridors of the 5 star hotel. Specified in both polished brass and polished chrome, the compact, easy-action door closers offer outstanding versatility and complement the designs of world-renowned interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon. Pierre-Yves’ designs impart new glamour and luxury throughout the hotel, echoing the finest of 1920’s Art Deco, combined with an Edwardian-inspired, classic English style, both synonymous with The Savoy.
A further 180 DORMA TS 83 door closers were supplied for the back of house and cross corridor doors by Harbrine, also a specialist architectural hardware distributor. Simple to fix and even easier to adjust, the multi-function, multi-purpose TS 83 closer can be fitted to virtually any door, on either the pull side or the push side. It also holds successful independent testing to BS EN 1154, and is CERTIFIRE approved for fire doors.
With integral self-regulating backcheck and adjustable closing speed and latch action, TS 83 door closers offer easy action opening.
