Richard Matthews has joined HyperTunnel as chief executive. He was previously chief executive of NDT Global, a pipeline inspection business.

He takes over from HyperTunnel’s co-founders, Steve Jordan and Jeremy Hammond, who will continue to work with the business to promote its concept of injecting chemicals through horizontal directional drilling (HDD) bore pipes to effectively 3D-print a tunnel in the ground.

Steve Jordan said: “Richard arrives with an exceedingly relevant technology background, thanks to NDT Global’s involvement in high-end pipeline robotics, the use of big data and the building of digital twin models; all of which are core elements of the HyperTunnel method.”

Jeremy Hammond added: “HyperTunnel has grown and matured incredibly quickly and it’s the right time to strengthen the top team to help us deliver the opportunities that lie ahead.

Richard Matthews said, “I am delighted and honoured to be joining HyperTunnel at such an exciting time, to lead the process of taking this game-changing technology to market and to disrupt the underground construction space.”
