He is one of two new board appointments at the agency. David Poole (picture below) has been promoted to director, commercial and procurement.
David Brewer joins the Highways Agency in July from Lend Lease where he was chief executive of a large PFI joint venture company. He previously worked for BAA in a number of roles at Gatwick Airport.
Mr Brewer said: “The Highways Agency is widely respected for its profound contribution to our economy and quality of life. I am delighted to be joining during a period of unique opportunity for the organisation.”
Mr Poole joined the agency in 2008 as director of the procurement division. The commercial division is now being added to his portfolio and a new directorate created to develop relationships with suppliers.
Mr Poole said: “The agency and its extended tiers of suppliers have made significant progress in recent years to create a more dynamic environment with a keen focus on service and cost drivers, but we have much more to do. I am delighted to be taking up this new appointment and look forward to working further with our supply chain to deliver on our service, collaboration and efficiency aspirations.”
Highways Agency chairman Alan Cook said: “I look forward to welcoming David Brewer and David Poole to the board of the Highways Agency, where they will support chief executive Graham Dalton and his team in meeting some very challenging goals over the next few years.”
