Manchester M&E specialist goes under

12 Dec 11 Bad debts have forced Manchester-based building services contractor S Barratt & Co into liquidation.

The family-owned company, whose previous projects include the Channel Tunnel, had been in business since 1935. More than 40 jobs have gone.

Administrators from MCR are now working on what happens to ongoing projects around the UK

The administrators said: “Due to the situation of the contracts the company was working on it has not been possible to continue trading. The joint administrators are working with certain key employees to finalise the position on each contract however 43 employees have been made redundant.”

2009 accounts showed that the company made a pre-tax profit of £430,000 from a turnover of £18.9m.
