Monastery’s prayers answered with acoustic drainage system from Polypipe Terrain

27 Jun 11 Polypipe Terrain has provided a unique package of products, training and technical support to create a bespoke, acoustically-insulated drainage solution for a new monastery in Worcestershire.

Tasked by Mechanical Installation Heating Services (MIH LTD) to specify a suitable solution for the new building at Mucknell Abbey, Polypipe Terrain supplied its Terrain Acoustic dB12 drainage solution, a triple-layer pipe system with acoustically insulated fittings designed to reduce the effect of noise. Terrain Acoustic dB12 not only meets the sound performance required by Building Regulations but substantially exceeds it, making it ideal for this project where noise control was a key factor.

Roger Holbrook, of MIH LTD comments: “Noise reduction was vital to the success of this project. Silence is of the upmost importance in a monastery, so right from the design stage we needed to ensure that the products we used would reduce internal noise. We were confident that Polypipe Terrain would be able to rise to the challenge and meet our tight specification. Their technical support team provided expert advice at the design stage and later followed this up with installation training and technical support.”

“Terrain Acoustic dB12 was specifically developed to meet the increasing demands for acoustically insulated drainage,” comments Polypipe Terrain’s Sales and Marketing Director, Adam Turk. “It offers a one-stop solution that reduces both material and labour requirements, resulting in a fast, efficient and cost-effective answer. It was particularly pleasing to provide a solution for this project as it’s not often we see new monasteries being built. It’s one of the more unusual buildings we’ve worked on and it certainly underlines the versatility of our product range.”
