Steelwork contractors join forces

6 Jul 11 Bourne Steel and Billington Structures, two of the largest specialist steelwork contractors in the UK, have formed a joint venture for major steelwork projects.

The company is called BS2 Ltd and it will primarily be targeting high rise developments and other major building projects across the UK.

The venture is headed by Tom Goldberg as non-executive chairman. Mr Goldberg was previously boss of Atlas Ward Structures and is a former president of the British Constructional Steelwork Association. He worked on the Broadgate, London Bridge City and Canary Wharf developments and has sat on a number of government construction bodies such as CIPER and the Construction Act Advisory Board.

Mr Goldberg said: “I am honoured and privileged to be appointed Non-Executive Chairman of such an exciting venture between these two well-established companies. As an industry we need to continually invest in new improvements so we are prepared against the global threats that surround us. Clients demand value for money from their construction partners, and with the combined engineering, fabrication and construction capabilities of Bourne and Billington, BS2 offers these skills combined with a new collaborative approach.”
