The contract involves the construction of a new terminal, the Midfield Terminal Complex (MTC), as well as the redevelopment of existing terminal facilities and services. The MTC itself looks set to be approximately 700,000m2.
The appointment follows work on a number of major infrastructure projects in the Middle East for Turner & Townsend, including Dubai and Oman airports, as well as other aviation briefs such as London Heathrow and Brisbane Airport.
Turner & Townsend Middle East regional managing director Mike Collings said: “Turner & Townsend has built a reputation working on some of the world’s largest infrastructure projects and has seen its business in this sector grow by two thirds since 2010-2011.”
