Van Oord and Boskalis team up for 1,200km Baltic pipeline

13 Jul 17 A joint venture of Van Oord and Boskalis has won a €250m (£222m) contract for rock placement as part of a gas pipeline project in the Baltic Sea.

Rock needs to be installed at specific locations along the 1,200km route to level the seabed and to protect the pipelines. The contract scope includes the sourcing of rock from quarries in the Baltic region.

Project developer Nord Stream 2 has issued the JV with a letter of intent for the work on the Nord Stream 2 project. The twin 1,200km gas pipelines will run through the Baltic, connecting Russia to Europe. Contract details are expected to be finalised in the next few weeks.
