Willmott Dixon eyes northern expansion

21 Jun 13 Willmott Dixon has recruited a pair of former Mansell men to grow its house-building business in the north of England.

Former Mansell regional managing director Stuart Belfield has joined Willmott Dixon as operations director. Richard Sterling, previously business development manager at Mansell, has come with him as sales and marketing manager.

Willmott Dixon already builds 1,500 homes a year, mainly in the southeast, and has been growing its presence in the north Midlands housing market during the past 12 months, with such schemes as the £23m programme to deliver 197 new retirement homes in Derbyshire for Chevin Housing Association.

It now wants to extend its northern footprint after secured a place on all four regional lots of the Homes & Communities Agency’s delivery partner panel 2 framework.

Construction offices in Oldham, Leeds and Newcastle offer a platform for house-building growth, the company said.

Mr Belfield said: “When Willmott Dixon outlined its ambitious growth plans for the North, the opportunity to help shape this was too good to miss. Willmott Dixon has a compelling market proposition as one of the country’s largest housing contractors; we’re looking forward to delivering this potential in the north.”
